Biography
Peter Michel was born in Devonport, Auckland. In 2007, after a successful 34 year career in Sales and Marketing Management, he started Living Family Histories Ltd as a vehicle to follow his dream of documenting the history of New Zealand families, companies and organisations. He became a member of the NZ Society of Genealogists.
By June 2024, he had produced 26 full length and many shorter history documentaries - most of which he had researched, scriptwritten, filmed and edited himself. He has also researched and written 15 history books and currently has two family and community organisation history books, a biography of an environmental lawyer and one family history documentary in various stages of production. He is now accepting commissions for new books and/or documentaries for commencement in March 2025.
For fun and to develop his camera and video editing skills, he has produced over 490 music, sports, and company website videos and tv commercials.
In his spare time, in addition to an ongoing programme of self-education, he follows a regular exercise programme, including weight training and masters grade athletics, specifically sprinting. For relaxation, he enjoys kayaking and speedboating on the Waitemata Harbour.
The rest of his time is spent enjoying time with his 11 year old grandson and mate, Louis Milan Michel.
